Digital pioneers

Australia is among those countries pioneering the move to digital radio broadcasting. Prime among them is Austereo, as Richard Lawn reports

...Austereo Melbourne may have ordered the same digital console technology as the previous three studios, but the scale of this new project dwarfed the earlier refits.

XENON CHOSEN FOR ALPES1 AND LALA RADIO

The French radio group called Espace Group recently retained the services of Systèmes Audiofréquence Vidéonique (SAV) in order to design, supply and install new studios for ALPES 1 and LALA RADIO.

Both radio stations are located in Gap (Alpes), and broadcast information, mainstream music, like oldies or pop, and French music. SAV decided to equip the two studios with digital XENON consoles. “It has been Espace Group’s first experience with digital broadcast technology”, explains Mathieu Dubois, SAV’s Radio Department Manager.

“Gladly the customer put full confidence in us, as the project was a follow up installation. Although we supplied analog broadcast technology at that time, our customer was easy to convince of the XENON. Especially Espace Group’s technical director is more than happy with the new equipment and the features the XENON offers. In his eyes, digital equipment always has been considered to be expensive, but XENON provides all advantages of digital technology at the price of an anolog console. We were able to meet our customer’s needs, and even more, surprise him with the user-friendliness and high quality of the KLOTZ DIGITAL product.
